You’ll likely notice your StatFame XP bumped up today a bit. We’ve been tweaking the formula to better align with giving eXperience Points for just the participation itself. The thought behind “experience” shouldn’t be based on how WELL you play the game (we’ve got something else cooking for that), but it should be based on how MUCH you play the game!

We’ve all got kids, so we know with all the new gadgets and gizmos out there that it’s tough to get them outside and interested in staying fit/healthy. The NFL’s “Play 60″ campaign has really done a lot of good things for kids. “NFL PLAY 60 is the National Football League’s campaign to encourage kids to be active for 60 minutes a day in order to help reverse the trend of childhood obesity.” We’re on that boat 110%!
Our goal is to mesh the fact that kids love badges and “leveling up” in online games with the fact that getting out and staying in shape is something that needs to stay at the top of kids priority lists. So anything you do in REAL life, gets you eXperience Points on StatFame!
How do I get more eXperience Points?
By being out and playing outside! Again, XP not about being AWESOME at the game, it’s just about being IN the game. Anything you do will get you different levels of points. The more you explore and achieve different aspects of the game (an at-bat, a walk, a double, reached on an error, etc), the more you gain points.
Do some actions on the field result in more eXperience Points?
Yes. Like in a computer game, you get more points for discovering new features, new treasures, and by having new experiences. Some take a little more effort, so they result in getting a little more experience.
Can I get multiple eXperience Points for the same thing?
Absolutely. If you played in 20 minutes of the soccer game, you’ll get twice as much XP the person that only played for 10 minutes got.
So then you’re saying the best athlete will ALWAYS have the most eXperience Points! That is not fair!
Nope, we’re not. If that athlete is always playing, always outside, sure. But her ABILITY to get larger XP pieces doesn’t mean you can’t play in 10 more games than that person. You playing outside for 120 minutes without doing anything spectacular may trump her 3 homeruns she hit last night. XP is about more about QUANTITY, not as much about QUALITY.
